5 Ways to have fun in Perth
21st June 2019
Are you new to Perth or have you simply forgotten how to have fun here?
You’re in luck, because we’ve written a blog for you, with 5 ways to have fun in Perth (just in case you’ve forgotten how).
Yes, we know, it’s winter, but that doesn’t mean you can’t experience Perth and have fun, just rug up while you do it! Here are some ideas for all your fun to be had (there’s even a wine tour in there for good measure).
1. Ride to Rottnest Island

Let’s make something clear here. We don’t expect you to ride all the way to Rottnest – after all, there is water between you and the island.
You can ride to Rottnest on the ferry though, and with different times and different ports from which to start your journey, you can find the right ride for you.
Known as ‘Rotto’ by locals, the lure of Rottnest Island all starts with the quality of the surrounding water, the beautiful scenery, the ocean, the marine life, the quokkas and much more.
2. Picnic in Kings Park

There really is nowhere that compares to the beauty of Kings Park. So, when was the last time you enjoyed it?
You should be enjoying it more, because it’s from here, that you get the best views of Perth’s panorama, with an outlook that overlooks the city skyline, the meandering waters of the Swan River and all the way out to the Perth Hills in the distance.
Size-wise, it’s one of the largest parks in the country, with numerous spacious grassy areas that are great picnic spots even during busy seasons. Add to this flawless landscaping, immaculate grass condition and extensive facilities – the perfect place for a picnic.
3. Stroll the Fremantle markets

Who doesn’t love a good stroll around markets?
Step inside the Fremantle Markets, Perth’s ultimate market experience since 1897 when visitors would arrive by horse and cart.
Enjoy the distinctive atmosphere of over a hundred years of vibrant culture and heritage with over 150 stalls, each as unique as the next. Stalls range from fresh local produce, unique food offerings, indigenous products, a dazzling array of arts and crafts, clothing music and more.
4. See a show at His Majesty’s Theatre

Soak your soul in culture and see a show at His Majesty’s Theatre or as us locals like to say ‘the Maj’.
The elegant, majestic, 110-year-old building on Hay Street in Perth, has undergone a series of restorations over the years and retains an atmosphere reminiscent of 19th century London, providing a theatre-going experience that is truly unique in modern Australia.
From ballet, comedy, cabaret, musical theatre and jazz, there is really something for everyone.
